Dutch Agricultural Export Award Presented to Mohammad Al-Furaih

On February 27, Joseph Velling, the Dutch Ambassador to Kuwait, presented the Dutch Agricultural Export Award to Mohammed Ibrahim Al-Fraih of the Burgan Food and Agricultural Industries Corporation. It should be noted that the award is presented by the Dutch Minister of Agriculture to businesspeople who, through their outstanding efforts, have contributed to the export and marketing of Dutch agricultural and horticultural products. The award was established in 1986 and has been presented twice in the Gulf region to date, both times to businesspeople in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The ambassador explained that Mohammed Abraa Ibrahim Al-Fraih deserved the award for his long and distinguished relationship with Dutch companies. Over the course of 15 years, he has established business relationships with Dutch institutions, including the import and marketing of a wide range of products, from farm poultry to floral incense. He has also leveraged Dutch technology and expertise to help advance Kuwaiti agriculture. This includes establishing the largest poultry complex and the first and largest greenhouse, as well as introducing drip irrigation technology. Mohammed Ibrahim Al-Fraih has become a leading expert in the agricultural sector. He contributed to strengthening bilateral relations between the State of Kuwait and the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The award was presented at a luncheon held at Ambassador Velling’s residence, attended by prominent Kuwaiti figures. The Dutch Agricultural Attaché, Herman Heiligeman, who is based in Riyadh, also attended the event. In 1989, the Burgan Food and Agricultural Industries Corporation also received the Technology Transfer Award presented by the Minister of Commerce and Agriculture of Bahrain.
