Distribution of Agricultural Plots to Retired Kuwaiti Engineers

Congratulations to the retired agricultural engineers on the agricultural plots they received from the government last Tuesday, May 18, 2010. For the first time in Kuwait’s history, 49 retired Kuwaiti agricultural engineers received a plot measuring 20,000 square meters in Al-Wafra, This is a remarkable achievement for the relevant authorities, foremost among them the Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources, and a major gain for Kuwait, as involving graduates of agricultural colleges in productive agricultural work... It is a victory for the Kuwaiti Association of Agricultural Engineers, which has strived for many years to realize the dream of a group of its members—that each would have an agricultural plot through which to contribute to achieving a portion of the country’s desired food security. It is true that the size of the agricultural plot is small—20,000 square meters—but by applying the agricultural sciences the agricultural engineer studied in college and utilizing modern scientific methods, as well as contemporary agricultural technologies such as vertical farming, drip irrigation, and hydroponics or soil-less farming, he can produce better results in both quantity and quality. All that is required is for the Industrial Bank of Kuwait to extend a helping hand to those agricultural engineers who are willing... through affordable loans so they can enter the fruitful agricultural sector as quickly as possible and excel in it, proving their worth and demonstrating that they are deserving of these plots, so that their fellow graduates—after retirement—may also have a share of agricultural plots in Kuwait’s agricultural regions. Simply put, we are optimistic that the presence of 49 experienced and knowledgeable agricultural engineers among their fellow farmers in the Al-Wafra agricultural region... in enriching the production process over the next few years and in organizing this region and shaping its future, especially since there are dozens of (well-established) agricultural companies engaged in nursery work and ornamental and landscaping agriculture.... which will soon be granted agricultural plots covering 25,000 square meters there... And congratulations to those who have won their plots and to those who will win theirs in the future—agricultural engineers and owners of exquisite nurseries. A thought: Consider that summer cannot bear any more heat, so be a gentle breeze, a beautiful smile, a soothing word, and a cool shade. And do not tell me there is nothing to be done, for you will not lack the means.
