Burgan Agri Opens New Headquarters
Burgan Agri inaugurated its new headquarters, along with the main exhibition for agricultural equipment and food industries, in the Al-Rai area. The inauguration was attended by Engineer Mohammed Abdulmohsen Al-Rifai, Chairman of the Public Authority for Agriculture and Fisheries, Dutch Ambassador to Kuwait Anthony Beebers, and a large gathering of Kuwaiti businessmen and figures interested in Burgan Agri’s activities. Burgan Agri’s Director General, Engineer Mohammed Al-Fraih, told Al-Watan that the purpose of establishing Burgan Agri in 1981 was to bolster the Kuwaiti and and the Gulf region by establishing an infrastructure for institutions and companies operating in various fields of agriculture and food industries at a time when such entities were lacking in the Kuwaiti market. This was done to rely on them in implementing projects that met the needs of the state and citizens during that period, as well as to advance the national economy in the fields of agriculture and food industries to reduce dependence on foreign companies for the implementation of such projects. Al-Fraih stated that since Burgan Agri’s establishment in 1981 until now, it has been providing all forms of technical and professional assistance to the small institutions and companies that began to emerge in Kuwait and the Gulf. Regarding the assistance provided by Burgan Agri, Al-Fraih said: Burgan Agri provides consulting services for agricultural projects and the poultry industry for the production of broiler chickens and eggs, the feed industry, dairy farms, and food processing, as well as for livestock production and fattening, protected agricultural greenhouses, irrigation and harvesting equipment, horticulture, meat processing plants, and animal protein production facilities. Burgan Agri also conducts economic feasibility studies for projects and provides technical development, and it implements the projects on a “turnkey” basis, providing technical supervision and delivering materials to the project site. In addition, it supplies all materials required for agricultural and food projects, such as equipment, packaging machinery, and chemical “disinfectants,” including fertilizers, pesticides, and other products. It also supplies testing equipment, packaging materials, and refrigeration and ventilation equipment. Burgan Agri also supplies poultry projects with feed, concentrates, corn, soybeans, hatching eggs, and chicks of all types—broilers and layers—as well as egg sorting and packaging equipment. Al-Fraih added that regarding distribution centers, the company owns three sales centers in Kuwait, Al-Wafra, and Abdali.
