Burgan Agricultural Company Shapes Scientific Farming in Kuwait

Burgan Farms promotes the concept of “scientific agriculture” at its main facility in the Abdali Agricultural Zone, as well as in the Wafra Agricultural Zone. Since its establishment in 1981, Burgan Agricultural Company has sought to provide the highest specifications and standards in the poultry industry and protected agriculture, with a focus on developing modern agricultural methods based on scientific experiments and research. As part of its ongoing efforts to serve the agricultural sector, the company has established specialized training and experimental centers in the Abdali area, featuring various types of greenhouses, with the aim of studying different agricultural outcomes, providing appropriate technical recommendations to farmers, and selecting the best agricultural systems and methods suited to the Kuwaiti environment.n\nFirst: Greenhouse Experiments – Al-Abdali Farm\n\nGreenhouse No. (1) is covered with double-glazed glass, measuring (30 × 20) meters, with a total area of (600) square meters, and is dedicated to seedling production.\n\nGreenhouse No. (2) is covered with glass, measuring (96 × 32) meters, with a total area of (3,072) square meters, and is dedicated to agricultural production.\n\nGreenhouse No. (3) is covered with polycarbonate, measuring (96 × 32) meters, with a total area of (3,072) square meters, and is designated for agricultural production.\n\nA polycarbonate-covered greenhouse, measuring (10 × 32) meters, with a total area of (320) square meters, manufactured in the Arab world, and used for comparison and evaluation purposes.\n\nFive arched greenhouses covered with polyethylene (PE), measuring 32 × 8.5 meters, designated for seed trials, evaluating types of plastic, and studying the lifespan of agricultural coverings.\n\nVarious experiments on new seeds are conducted inside these greenhouses, along with the cultivation of a number of fruit trees and plants, such as mangoes, papayas, bananas, and “Buddha’s fingers,” in addition to various other plant species. The company has also conducted specialized experiments on potato varieties; in one season, 13 different potato varieties were compared, alongside other experiments on a number of field crops, such as jute.n\nThe Burgan Farm in Abdali features diverse experimental fields that include corn, colored peppers, various types of tomatoes, green and purple cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, potatoes, and other agricultural crops. In the field of potato cultivation in particular, the company has achieved outstanding results through agricultural experiments and modern scientific applications.\n\nBurgan Agricultural Company believes that the future of agriculture depends on “scientific agriculture” and “digital agriculture,” based on rigorous scientific research and sound practical experiments, thereby contributing to higher production quality and achieving agricultural sustainability.\n\nCompany Director Badr Mohammed Al-Fareeh notes that Burgan Farms provides seedling production and supply services to farmers through its modern nurseries in both Abdali and Al-Wafra, where the seedlings include: tomatoes, flowers, lettuce, cabbage, broccoli, beans, sweet and hot peppers of various shapes and colors, as well as seedlings of various vegetables and fruits, in addition to many fruit trees and shrubs, particularly figs, papayas, and citrus fruits. Furthermore, flowers are prepared at the Granada nursery.
