
Burgan Agri Supporting the Agricultural Sector
Burgan Agri is an extension of agricultural institutions and companies with a long history in the field of agriculture in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, especially since its inception in 1981, when it set its sights on becoming an agricultural institution whose primary goal is to serve this country and support its agricultural sector. The foundation carries out numerous activities in the fields of agriculture and food. Regarding its most important activities, Engineer Mohammed Ibrahim Al-Fraih, the foundation’s owner and general manager, told us: - The company's most important activities are as follows: First, providing agricultural consulting. The foundation offers advice on land, irrigation methods, types and dimensions of agricultural greenhouses, required equipment, and suitable high-quality crop varieties. Second, implementing agricultural projects. The Burgan Agri implements agricultural projects regardless of their size; no matter how small the project, it will be within its scope of interest, and no matter how large, it will not exceed its capabilities. It collaborates with Dutch companies to implement agricultural projects, It established the first and largest greenhouse in Kuwait, and the Foundation remains the leader in greenhouse construction in terms of installed area. In addition, it has installed more than three thousand plastic tunnels in the Abdali and Wafra areas. Third, the Foundation provides feasibility studies and economic analyses for agricultural projects in collaboration with experts specializing in agricultural projects, and implements these projects on a turnkey basis. It also provides technical management services. The Foundation has conducted feasibility studies and economic analyses for integrated projects in Kuwait, the Gulf states, and Northern Yemen. Fourth, the Foundation supplies the necessary equipment for agricultural projects and provides modern equipment to contribute to the development of agriculture in Kuwait. It has installed a commercial-scale sprinkler irrigation system in greenhouses and protected agricultural structures and has supplied fast-dissolving chemical fertilizers, hybrid seeds and pesticides, drip irrigation networks and water tanks, treated plastic and fiberglass, suspension strings, spare parts, plastic fittings, and irrigation pipes (polyethylene) ranging from 1/2 inch to 4 inches in diameter. Fifth, Providing necessary services to farmers: Burgan Agricultural Foundation provides services to farmers regarding farming methods, selecting high-quality seeds suitable for Kuwait’s climate, fertilization techniques, supervising equipment installation, and offering daily guidance to farmers. The Foundation operates an exhibition hall in the Al-Rai area and warehouses in the Al-Wafra and Abdali areas. The Burgan Foundation has a technical team and full-time engineers who supervise equipment installation and provide daily guidance to farmers regarding irrigation, seeds, and fertilization. This supervision is provided free of charge as a daily service because the Foundation believes that the farmers’ success is the Foundation’s success. In terms of its services to poultry farmers, the Foundation provides the following materials: Hatching eggs for broiler chickens, one-day-old layer chicks, feed concentrates, poultry equipment (drinkers + feeders), cooling and heating equipment, and the implementation of poultry projects and their accessories. As for the implementation of poultry projects and their accessories: Supply and installation of poultry houses (laying and broiler), poultry slaughterhouses, feed mills, feed silos, incubators of all sizes, day-old broiler chicks, veterinary medicines, feed grains (soybean and corn), laying hen cages, and fans of all types.
